A storytelling experience for Brawl Stars

To celebrate Brawl Stars' fifth anniversary, we teamed up with Buck to create a dynamic, interactive experience that explains and further explores the lore of the game.

If you play Brawl Stars, you probably already know that the game takes place in an abandoned amusement park called Starr Park. That's exactly where our story starts.

Through a hidden easter egg in the game, players are teleported to a mysterious security room from 1995. Inside, they gradually uncover the history of Starr Park through a series of interactive elements: surveillance footage from 5 CCTV screens, phone voicemails, a security guard's detailed logbook and an old computer terminal. Together, these pieces lead to the events behind the park's abandonment and the origin stories of the game's characters.

The 5 CCTV feeds were live 24 hours a day for 42 days, showing original footage created entirely by Buck. On top of that, all the accessory content, like the objects on the desk, the logbook notes and the phone voicemails, kept changing and was updated regularly, so players could come up with new theories every day.

One of the most engaging features was the Timecode terminal input. Supercell would occasionally hide special codes throughout the game and in their social media posts, turning it into a treasure hunt for players. Each code unlocked early access to highlight videos before their official release.

It was thrilling to follow Twitter and Reddit as the community worked together to crack the codes. Some looked for hints in the videos or came up with wild theories, while others took a less conventional route and just tried to brute-force the system.

The project was a huge success: it got over 89 million views and a lot of buzz on social media, with players discussing the latest events and guessing what would happen next.
